Some sort of eggs laid on the ground
It is a birds nest. A Mallard duck laid her eggs right outside our back door—less than 4 feet from us—and we never noticed. We had hoped to do a nice long series about the birth and growth of the ducklings, but shortly after we took the first photo, some animal got to the eggs and that was that!
